CEO Eric Winquist sets the strategic vision for Jama, a company he founded in 2007 after witnessing first-hand the common frustrations companies face in delivering products to market. With 20 years experience in product development and entrepreneurship, he is passionate about reinventing product delivery in the enterprise by bringing people into the process. Eric’s interest and background in the psychology of work and motivation has informed many of the innovations in Jama’s collaboration software.

Jama is one of the fastest-growing enterprise software companies in the United States, having exceeded 100% growth in each of the past four years, during which time it has been repeatedly recognized by Inc. and Forbes as a model of growth and innovation.

Christian Prusia

Christian Prusia

Vice President of Worldwide Sales

Christian is an accomplished entrepreneur with more than 15 years experience raising capital and running startups in industries ranging from semiconductors to software. Christian leads Jama’s sales and business development teams. Prior to Jama, Christian held positions in product management, corporate development, sales and senior management at technology companies and included oversight of the transition from private to public company. He has amassed extensive sales experience within the U.S., Asia and Europe and has a proven ability to foster long-standing channel and customer relationships.

Christian is an avid fly-fisherman. When not sharing ideas with customers, you’ll likely find him somewhere in central Oregon hip-high in water. He is a graduate of the University of Puget Sound and holds an MBA from the Atkinson School of Management at Willamette University.

John Simpson

John Simpson

Vice President of Marketing

John is responsible for Jama’s brand and worldwide marketing strategy. John joined Jama in 2007 at the early stage and has grown the customer base from 2 to over 600 global customers including 20 of the Fortune 100. Prior to Jama, John was Director of Marketing at Omniture (acquired by Adobe) and brings 17 years of experience developing brands, customer stories and managing interactive marketing programs for technology companies including Microsoft, WebTrends and ZAAZ (acquired by WPP). John has led teams through four acquisitions and has generated close to a million leads in his career. He has contributed to several articles, books, whitepapers and presentations on digital marketing, Web technology and product innovation.

Lori Schmall

Lori Schmall

Vice President of Services

Lori is an accomplished executive with over 20 years experience managing large-scale development projects and services organizations, with a proven track record of delivering customer satisfaction and growth. Recognized as a creative problem solver, strong communicator and team leader, Lori runs the professional services and support organizations focused on delighting customers. Prior to Jama, Lori was the COO of Grist.org, a nonprofit environmental news and multimedia organization. Her previous work experience includes management roles in custom application development, project management, systems design and business process improvement for Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS), Salomon Brothers and as a consultant managing teams through organizational change.

Keith Johnson

Keith Johnson

Vice President of Engineering

Keith is an accomplished executive with over 20 years of experience in the software industry, including three Fortune 500 companies. He has a proven track record of growing successful software organizations delivering high quality products, and experience leading acquisitions for company growth. Keith describes himself as a “Project Manager at heart,” and he knows the importance of team collaboration and sound requirements for project success. Prior to joining Jama, Keith has experience in both the public and private sectors, working in the healthcare and automotive industries, as well as state and local government.

Jennifer Jaffe

Jennifer Jaffe

Vice President of Product

Jennifer brings more than 20 years experience in product and business line management for both iterative and sequential software and hardware development environments. Prior to joining Jama, Jennifer directed product strategy for Tendril, a cloud-based platform provider with an integrated suite of enterprise and consumer energy apps based in Boulder, Colorado. Jennifer has spent the bulk of her career working closely with strategic clients and key customer segments to develop and iterate products that uniquely address core user and business needs. She continues this work at Jama, where user experience, validation and satisfaction are the top priority. Her background also includes executive roles at Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, InFocus and Toshiba.

Derwyn Harris

Derwyn Harris

Co-Founder

Derwyn Harris is Co-founder and Solutions Architect Manager at Jama Software. As an engineer, consultant and trainer, with broad experience deploying complex software-integration projects of all sizes, Harris has a uniquely agile personality, managing effectively in numerous environments. He is passionate about standards and about his customers, constantly seeking to understand development trends and how they impact his customers’ success. As a competitive cyclist and extreme outdoors athlete, his philosophy for sustaining passion is finding the balance between intensity and moderation, which translates to his day job advising software developers not to over-complicate their process. Sean Tong

Sean Tong

Co-Founder

Sean is the chief architect of Jama and an experienced developer of sophisticated Web 2.0 technologies built on open standards. Sean brings over 12 years of software engineering experience, including prior start-up experience with Hubat, a search technology company.

Sean has a masters degree in computer science from Tsinghua University in Beijing, as well as a Masters of computational linguistics from Carnegie Mellon University. He lives with his wife and two kids in Portland.

Karan Mehandru

General Partner, Trinity Ventures

Karan joined Jama’s board as a General Partner at Trinity Ventures, where he strategically invests in start-ups focused on product development, big data, SaaS, cloud computing and enterprise software. At Trinity, Karan led the investments in Act-On Software, ScaleArc, RJMetrics and Cloudability and works closely with portfolio companies ShopIgniter and Taulia. Prior to Trinity, Karan was a Senior Associate at Scale Venture Partners and a Strategic Sales Account Manager at Synopsys. Karan is an active member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Silicon Valley and a Charter Member of C100. He holds a master’s in management science from Stanford and a BA in electrical engineering from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.

Matt Compton

Chief Executive Officer at ShopIgniter

Matt joined Jama Software’s board as a member of the Oregon Angel Fund (OAF). Matt is the CEO of ShopIgniter and oversees the company’s strategy, manages operations and continually seeks eCommerce innovation for ShopIgniter customers.

Prior to ShopIgniter, Matt was a venture partner at Madrona Ventures, an early stage technology venture investor. Before joining Madrona, Matt held several roles at Yahoo, most recently VP Media and Strategic Partnerships. Before Yahoo, he was a founding partner of M2 Consulting, a product marketing consulting firm, and CEO & co-founder of a local portal company. Matt has a BA degree, cum laude, in Economics and International Relations from Claremont McKenna College and an MBA from Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Drew Smith

Oregon Angel Fund

Drew joined Jama Software’s board as a member of the Oregon Angel Fund (OAF). In addition to OAF, Drew is an active investor and consultant to early stage companies, as well as former M&A advisor at Tripwire, Inc., an emerging leader in security software.

Drew has extensive experience in venture capital investing, mergers and strategic consulting. He was with Intel for 12 years, most of it with Intel Capital, where he led investments in over 20 companies, supported M&A efforts and oversaw corporate development strategy for several divisions. Drew’s experience spans multiple industry sectors, from Internet software and services, to communication systems and components, to notebook subsystems such as batteries and displays.

Prior to Intel, Drew was with McKinsey & Company, where he focused on corporate, marketing and sales strategy for a range of industrial clients. Drew holds an MBA, summa cum laude, from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management and a BS in Applied Mathematics from Brown University.

Dave Hersh

Chairman of the Board at Jive Software, Advisor

As Chairman of the Board at Jive Software, Dave Hersh is responsible for advising the company’s growth strategy and overall direction.

Previously, Dave was the CEO of Jive Software. In that role, his vision and leadership grew the company from its inception as a small open source project with no revenue to become the leader of the Social Business Software industry. Prior to Jive, Hersh held the roles of CFO and product strategist at 4charity, and was a management consultant focused on strategy and change management for VIA International in Chicago and London.

Dave has gained a reputation for his deep industry knowledge of collaboration, knowledge management and open source, and he is frequently tapped to present at industry events and serve as a media reference. Bill Etheredge

Principal at WCE Consulting Group, Advisor

At WCE Consulting, Bill provides sales and channel strategy advisory services to a number of emerging companies as a consultant, interim sales executive and advisory board member.

Bill has a 32-year track record in executive global sales and marketing management ranging from small to enterprise high-growth technology companies. His experience within go-to-market sales and channel strategies is focused on aggressive, profitable revenue and market share growth.

His previous employers include private early stage companies, as well as Fortune 500 companies such as Memorex, Maxtor, Concentric Network and Tektronix. Through his experience as a principal in two IPOs and an LBO, Bill has a deep understanding of company growth strategy.
