Custom Report Training Services

Overview

Jama Software provides custom report development training to equip teams with the skills to create their own custom reports. Training includes a session with a Jama reports developer for unlimited participants alongside various resources, documentation, and example code. 

Requesting customers are all recommended to begin with our Basic Training option which covers foundational concepts and core resources. All sessions are recorded and provided at the end of the training alongside all covered training materials for your internal reference. 

Pre-Requisites

Please be aware if you are running a self-hosted instance of Jama Connect you must be running a supported version to request a Jama Velocity Training.

These trainings are intended for technical resources and cover Velocity report development with Jama Connect but do not teach HTML or CSS. Participants unfamiliar with any of the following are recommend prior learning through other resources.

  • HTML & CSS
  • API utilization & method calling
  • Java data manipulation (Strings, Arrays, etc.)
  • Access to Microsoft Word & Excel

Beginner [1 credit]

This training introduces customers to Jama custom report development with pre-set topics, core resources, and open Q&A time. Optional Velocity practice prompts are provided to help participants gain further report development experience and come to the session with additional questions.

Basic Training is provided in two parts:

  1. Self-guided intro video, slide deck, Velocity coding exercises, and other supporting materials.
    • These materials are expected to be reviewed and completed prior to the live class session (2-3 hour effort).
  2. Live session covering Velocity code exercise solutions walkthrough, custom report Word & Excel templates review, general debugging tips, and Q&A time with a Jama reports developer.
    • While this session is facilitated using a slide deck, we follow an open discussion structure to address any questions or blockers encountered by the participants (1 hour effort).

Intermediate [1 credit]

This training builds upon the Basic Training content, covering more advanced report implementation with a Jama developer. This training covers pre-defined topics outlining complex implementations used to create higher level custom reports and provides Q/A time with a EESR developer.

Intermediate Training is provided in two parts:

  1. Self-guided intro video, slide deck, Velocity coding exercises, and other supporting materials.
    • These materials are expected to be reviewed and completed prior to the live class session (2-3 hour effort).
  2. Live class session covering Velocity code exercise solutions walkthrough, customer code share / discussion time, and Q&A time with a Jama reports developer.
    • While this session is facilitated using a slide deck, we follow an open discussion structure to address any questions or blockers encountered by the participants (1 hour effort).

Advanced [1 credit]

This custom training allows you to define the topic set covered in a session with a Jama developer. Requesting customers will be provided a scoping document to define either a collection of Velocity topics or guidance overview for a Jama developed report. 

Basic Training is required as a prerequisite.
