Jama Software Completes Record-Breaking Year, Appoints Scott Roth as CEO

Today, Jama Software announced that it has transitioned to a fully subscription business with record-breaking, 100% year-over-year growth of GAAP subscription revenue, and has appointed SaaS industry veteran, Scott Roth, to lead the next phase. Roth’s industry experience and business acumen, combined with his vision for growth, makes him the ideal executive to lead Jama Software to scale.

Eric Winquist, Jama founder and CEO, will transition to Chief Strategy Officer and Chairman, and focus on expanding the company’s product offering and developing strategic partnerships. “I’ve known Scott for several years and am excited to bring him to Jama. Scott’s people-first leadership style is a great fit, and I look forward to partnering with him to accelerate Jama’s product innovation and growth.”

Roth has over fifteen years of SaaS experience including executive roles in product, marketing, sales and service. Most recently, Roth was EVP and General Manager of Return Path’s global 250-person email optimization division. Prior to Return Path, Roth spent six years in executive leadership for ExactTarget prior to and after their $2.5B acquisition by Salesforce.

“We are extremely pleased to have Scott join as CEO,” says Karan Mehandru, Jama Director and General Partner at Trinity Ventures. “Scott’s experience leading and scaling high-growth SaaS companies will be a perfect complement to Eric and the rest of the management team as Jama accelerates into its next phase. At each step of his career, Scott has demonstrated excellence across marketing, sales and general management, as well as an intense focus on customers and company culture, which we believe will translate perfectly to Jama.”

The news of Roth’s appointment comes on the heels of a strong year. The company added over 100 new customers including NASA, United Technologies, Zoll, Eaton, John Deere, Samsung, NVIDIA and Estes. Jama also saw strong expansion within its existing customer base with more than 100 customers adding additional seats.

Earlier this year, Jama launched product development solutions for the medical, semiconductor, aerospace and automotive industries. Today, software drives rapid innovation in these industries and companies must accelerate their development cycles to compete. Managing the complexity of concurrent software and hardware development, while achieving regulatory approval, has become critical to success.

“Today’s complex systems are more connected and software-driven,” says Roth, “and they require regulatory compliance. This means companies need to embrace new tools — tools that help simplify processes, meet these regulations and out-innovate competitors. Jama does just that for companies across the globe and I’m excited to be part of the next chapter.”
