Enterprise Sales Engineer

Job Description

This is your chance to join a seasoned team at an award-winning company in Portland and play a key role in our rapidly growing organization. Jama designs web software that is used by product development teams around the world to help them build great products. We work with hundreds of innovative companies from agile startups to Fortune 100 organizations.

In this role, you will work with the Sales team to engage with our prospective customers, understand and assess requirements, prepare and present demonstrations of our products, and address technical questions that arise throughout the sales process. You should be a confident communicator with excellent presentation skills and the ability to persuasively present Jama's product offering to both practitioners and C-level executives. In addition, you should feel comfortable working closely with our Product, Support, Engineering and Sales teams.

Responsibilities

You will report directly to the Vice President of Global Sales and work with other members of the Sales team. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and deliver product messaging in an effort to highlight Jama's value proposition through a variety of techniques, including product presentations & demos, RFI/RFQ response documents, and technical question and answer sessions delivered via phone and through webinars
  • Work with the team to identify and qualify sales opportunities, identify key customer technical objections and develop a strategy to resolve technical impediments to closing sales
  • Make recommendations on the integration strategies, platforms and application infrastructure required to successfully implement a complete solution, providing best practices advice to customers to optimize Jama's products' effectiveness
  • Work with the sales account team, customer support, and engineering to identify and resolve product problems and deficiencies affecting pre-sales and post-sales customer satisfaction
  • Travel up to 40% is required to lead on-site customer implementations and deployments, the majority of travel will be done within the US, but some international travel will be required

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical training and professional work experience
  • 3+ years experience as a Sales Engineer or equivalent experience in a customer-facing role to include working as a member of a professional services or systems engineering team
  • Relevant and demonstrable domain expertise within the ALM markets preferred
  • Strong understanding of requirements management / software change management within this domain is highly desired
  • Proven ability to leverage domain expertise toward effective product positioning, customer-facing participation in the sales process, and revenue goals and product roadmap
  • Experience tailoring product solutions to key verticals, including Aerospace, Medical, Software, Government and others a plus
  • Conversant in flexible deployment platforms and solutions including dynamic J2EE, Java servlets, Javascript, HTML, ASP, Ajax and XML
  • Knowledge of standard web technologies, including application servers, web servers, relational databases, browsers, etc.
