Common in software development, a release is a group of Items that are developed together, and mapped to a specific completion (release) date.  This field can also be used to manage iterations or sprints depending on the company's product, project and methodology.

 

Within each Project in Contour, multiple releases can be planned for over time. Planning your releases within Contour, if the need to re-prioritize Items between releases arises,  simply move an Item or multiple Items from one release to another by dragging and dropping them within the Releases View.

To use releases and an additional field for grouping Items by iteration or sprint, talk to your Administrator about adding the field to the desired Set.  See the Releases for more information on how to plan releases in Contour.
