In Contour, relationships are used to link Items together that are related – what is known as "Traceability".  By creating relationships between Items, Contour allows you to easily assess the impact a change to one Item can have on other Items within the Project.  This feature will help you manage change effectively and keep your team in sync during development.

When you create relationships, you can then analyze the impact a change will have on other Items both direct and indirectly – what is known as "Impact Analysis."

Relationships can be either upstream or downstream from an Item. Using Impact analysis you can see the entire picture of all Items affected whether directly or several steps removed.

Note:  You can relate Items within the same Project or across multiple Projects if needed.

See the Traceability section for how to add relationships and run impact analysis.
