Contour's user interface is very fluid and allows you to move an Item around simply by selecting it and then dragging and dropping it into the new location. This is useful for reorganizing the hierarchy of Items within the Explorer View. Also, this is useful within the Releases View for reprioritizing Items between releases.

Rules for Moving Items - Valid Item Locations
Components -
| • | Components can be located or moved to the root of the Project tree. |
| • | Components can have sub-Components. |
Sets -
| • | Sets can be located or moved to the root of the Project tree or inside of a Component. |
| • | Sets can not have sub-Sets. |
Folders -
| • | Folders can be located or moved inside of a Set of the same Item Type it was created in or another Folder. |
Items -
| • | Items can be located or moved inside of a Set of the same Item Type. |
| • | Items can be located or moved inside of a Folder. |
| • | Items can have sub-Items of the same Item Type. |
Text Items -
| • | Text Items can be located or moved anywhere in the Project tree, including any other Item. |
General Rules -
| • | You must have Write Access to move any Items. ex: when moving Items between Sets you must have Write Access to both Sets. |
| • | When Components, Sets, and Folders are moved, all of the Items within them are moved as well. |
| • | Items can also be dragged from the right panel to the left panel. This removes the Item from the original Set. For example it is possible to drag items in a grid to a Release. This action will change the Release on the item being dragged. |
