Translation of Styles

Detailed below in the screen shot are several common MS Word styles.

Heading

Imported into Contour as a parent item or as an Item depending on whether it contains a sub-heading.  See below example for more detail.

Normal Text

This is the detail that describes a heading.  Contour will move this text to the description field of the associated Parent Item or Item.

Bulleted Text

This style is treated similar to Normal Text however the bullets will not be imported into Contour.

Bold / Italicized / Underlined Text

Contour does not apply any text formatting to imported text.

Numbered Lists

Contour will import numbered lists as bullets.  When the list contains multiple levels Contour will continue to use bullets however each set will be indented to indicate where the original levels existed.

Translation of Headings

Contour interprets each heading level to be a  item or an sub-item depending on whether there are any sub-headings below the selected heading.  In the example below, there are three levels of headings.

The first line is titled “Heading 1” and since it has at least one sub-heading it is imported as a parent item.  This is true for the topic “Heading 2” as well.  There are no sub-headings below “Heading 3” so Contour creates an item to represent this entry.
