Crowd Connector Features
| 1. | Single Sign On (SSO) – Single sign-on enables users to authenticate (log in) once and gain access to multiple web applications including Contour. You can also log out of one web application and instantly be logged out of them all. |
Enabling the Crowd connector configures Contour to participate in single sign on. When a user logs in to a Crowd integrated application, a cookie is stored on the user’s computer that directs Contour to authenticate the user through Crowd and bypasses the Contour log in screen.
| 2. | Simplified Identity Management - Administrators use Crowd to manage users and groups within a single system rather than managing users individually across many applications including Contour. |
| 3. | Simplified Directory Integrations - Users that exist in a wide range of directories can be granted access to Contour through Crowd. Crowd currently provides the following Directory Connectors. |
| • | Apache Directory Server (ApacheDS) |
| • | Microsoft Active Directory |
| • | OpenLDAP using Posix Schema |
| • | Sun Java System Directory Server Enterprise Edition (DSEE, previously called SunONE) |
| • | Internal Crowd Directory |
| • | Delegated Authentication Directory |
Note: Please see the Administration FAQ for detail around Crowd being installed on the same server as MySQL.
