You've been given a login and a URL for this new tool Contour.  Now what?  Well there is no better place to start than the beginning, so lets begin!

The first area we will start with is terminology.  No one wants to learn a new language for each application they use so we've tried to use straightforward generic terms that mean what you think they mean.  So why include this section?  Because the first rule of requirements is to always make sure that everyone has the same understanding so the focus can be on solving the problem, the right problem.

Methodologies come and go, and even when everyone says they are using the same one, a little digging will likely discover that there are huge differences in how organizations have implemented them.  Contour doesn't care what methodology you are using.  The following terms describe Contour's functionality without wandering into each methodology's unique terminology.

Your Administrator will configure your installation of Contour such that the fields and values you need are available with the terms you are used to using within your own organization.
