What's new in Contour v2.6

This release is about 3 key themes: custom reports, release management and user experience.

Custom Reports :: Word up!

  • Output into True MS Word Format - We enhanced the overall user interface for running reports from within Contour, making it easier for users to customize the reports they want to run, including...drum roll please...true MS Word format. The custom report outputs the information into a MS Word document, automatically formatted with header styles, page numbers, tables, bulleted lists, hyperlinks, etc.
  • Current View Reports - Now within Contour, you can run a "smart", context-sensitive report that's specific to just the items you're currently viewing. For example, if you've configured a filter called "My Use Cases" and you're viewing that list within Contour and you wanted to run a report to see the downstream system requirements just for those use cases, you can easily do that now within the Reports interface.

Release Management :: More control, more useful.

  • Customize Releases View - The Releases View is where you can group items together around milestones, iterations or product launches. Now within v2.6, you can customize the information you want viewable within this tab. For example, you may want to exclude certain Sets such as Evidence and Issues from the Release View.
  • Display Relationships within Releases - You can now configure the settings of the Releases View to display the downstream relationships associated with items to ensure you're not missing any critical downstream items within a specific release.

User Experience :: A taste of more good things to come.

  • Improved User Interface Design - In the header of Contour, you'll notice a few design enhancements. Your Organization's name will be prominent in the upper left corner now. The current Project you're working on will be highlighted in the blue toolbar, which is where you can configure the settings or layout of your project, or switch to another project you have rights to work on.
  • Customize the Project Layout - Building on the flexibility of Contour, users now can personalize the layout of a Project that they're working on. For example, if you want to keep the full Project tree available, because you switch between projects frequently, you can turn that on. If you don't use Tags or Filters, you can turn those off. You have control over your layout.
  • User Perspectives - In version 2.6, we've designed the architectural foundation for creating different perspectives. Today, there are 2 perspectives that are available: Administrator and Contour User. In the near future, we'll add functionality that will allow you to tailor the information that's viewable based on roles or other perspectives you may want to customize per your organization's needs, such as creating a QA perspective for members of your QA/Testing team that focus exclusively on managing test cases and defects.
  • Viewing Results with Multiple Item Types - We've improved the display of information within the results view. Now, when you use Search, Tags or Releases to view many items within a results list (a.k.a Grid), Contour smartly groups the items by Set and displays more details about the items. This will help you quickly find the information you're looking for.
  • Email Notifications - As an important part of the collaborative nature of Contour, Jama continues to enhance the functionality of notifications. In this v2.6 release, we've improved the workflow for pushing out an email notification to alert team members of new items or changes to existing items. You can add/remove entire groups or individual users to receive the notification. So everyone stays in sync.
