Powerful Web-based solution built for the enterprise.

Contour is designed for an enterprise-wide deployment with global organizations and is ideal for managing large, complex projects that deal with thousands of requirements and other items. In addition, the architecture supports seamless integration with other complimentary solutions used for product development and QA testing.

Pure Web-based application.

Contour is accessed through a standard Web browser such as Mozilla's Firefox or Internet Explorer. Contour does not require any client software or browser add-ins to be installed and all functions including administration and customization take place within the browser. Contour provides a rich user interface through the use of Ajax which provides users with an intuitive and speedy experience.

Built on Open Standards.

Contour is a pure J2EE application and is deployable on a variety of platforms including Windows, Unix, Linux and Mac. Contour runs within the Apache Tomcat application server.

Contour stores data in a relational database. Many commonly used database formats are supported such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL, HSQL and Oracle. Additional databases can be used on request through Jama Professional Services.

Very flexible. Highly customizable.

Contour was architected to be easily customized to fit your specific needs, development process and IT environment - from the look and feel which uses standard cascading style sheets (CSS) to the terminology and languages that maps to your process. Since Contour can run virtually on any database and OS, you can leverage your existing infrastructure and maintain a low total cost of ownership compared to traditional enterprise software.

Fast installation and configuration.

Contour is straightforward to install and we offer a number of options - standalone, WAR file or Windows installer for evaluation installs. For production configuration, Contour usually takes less than an hour to setup. In addition, Jama offers free remote installation and configuration support. Contour is portable which makes it easy to move between servers, to different types of databases or between hosted and installed instances. As a lightweight, Web-based application, Contour is loved by IT administrators.

System requirements.

Hardware requirements vary depending on your team size and usage. Typically we recommend a minimum of 512MB memory, ideally 1GB, allocated to the Contour application and 20GB disk space as a starting point for a 20-user setup. Using Contour as a document management repository may require additional disk space.
