It’s tough world for mustaches. In the facial hair world they’re not as respected as beards, as well-groomed as goatees or as prevalent as 5’clock shadows, but they do have their place. Every November they stand out, proudly on the faces of men who want to get a message out: Raising awareness about prostate cancer.
In the US, one in every six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and in 2013 alone nearly 30,000 men will be killed by it.* Despite this, awareness and support for prostate cancer is significantly lower than that of women’s health causes. If detected and treated early, prostate cancer has a 97% success rate.* Raising awareness of this affliction is crucial to men’s health around the world. Over the past month at Jama we’ve been observing Movember and fundraising for this cause as Team Jamustache.
So if you see a handlebar on the face of some ruffian this month or a cop with some crumbs on his upper-lip, give them a hearty thank you for the good they are doing!
Stand proud mustache’d men, you are making a difference in the world!
